The Manager of Facilities Management is responsible for the daily operations of plant operations and engineering and will be involved in the management of projects and other assigned tasks . Acts for the Assistant Director of Engineering in his absence. Is the primary liaison between the hospital /nursing home and outside agencies, including; but not limited to: Fire Department, Con Edison, Brooklyn Union Gas, Building Department, DEP, DEC, Health Department and The Joint Commission. Performs related duties as assigned and required.
High School diploma or equivalent GED is required. Graduation from a trade school with concentration in plant operations, construction, project management is highly desirable. A degree in an engineering field is an asset, but not required.
Minimum eight (8) years working experience in a building maintenance, renovation or construction field with experience as a supervisor with staff/ crew management responsibility for at least three (3) of those years is desired. Experience in a hospital / nursing home or similar healthcare environment is a clear asset.
None required at appointment. Must be able to gain certification within six (6) months of appointment and maintain without lapses during entire term of employment the following certificate of fitness (COF) issued by the NYC FDNY; including:
1. S95 Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems and other Related Systems
2. A35 To Operate and Maintain Air Compressors
3. S12 Citywide Sprinkler Systems,
4. S13 City wide Standpipe Systems, and
5. P13 Supervision of a Bulk Oil Storage Facility.
