Manager, Industrial Sales

The Opportunity

As our Manager of Industrial Business, you’ll manage and direct the activities of the Industrial Team to achieve sales, net profit, gross margin, operating ratio, and service objectives. This includes developing strong business relationships with executive level management and procurement personnel of our top customers. We are looking for an individual who has the ability to effectively apply their leadership and sales/customer skills to grow the business. You will be responsible for analyzing performance in the areas of sales, margin and expenses, and for giving feedback on improving business. In addition, you will be responsible for performing other duties as assigned by Branch management, and for supporting District and Corporate initiatives.

The Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred; five or more years of prior sales and sales management experience desired. The ideal candidate must be able to drive sales and lead personnel to meet and exceed sales objectives, and have a proven ability to develop and maintain customer relationships. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with MRO (Maintenance/Repair Operations). In addition, the ideal candidate must possess a proven background in industrial electrical systems that involve motors, drives, encoders, controls and other electrical components (transformers, switchgear). In addition, one must be resourceful; people, sales, service, and results oriented; and technologically adept. A working knowledge of SAP is a plus.

* Develop business plans that support the Industrial market within the assigned territory; work with appropriate sales personnel to develop tactical plans that implement the district plan; develop assigned sales territory business plans with suppliers that District Marketing has identified as strategic.
* Implement the sales management process utilizing sales rep business plans, pre-call plans, and post-call coaching debriefs; establish annual sales and gross margin rates for market applicable sales reps or other sales personnel within the district.
* Evaluate industry and business trends for potential impact on the district; identify key business opportunities and potential threats within the assigned sales territory.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers so that the assigned sales territory is properly positioned within the marketplace; provide guidance and support in the retention of profitable business.
* Ensure the assigned sales territory has implemented effective recruiting, staffing, employee development, performance management, and succession planning programs in assigned area; ensure a consistent focus on delivering high quality customer service.
* Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate tools and training programs within the assigned sales territory to support the Industrial business growth.
* Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience required:
Progressively responsible business or wholesale distribution industry experience

High school diploma or GED required

Preferred Job Requirements

Four-year degree preferred
